The redevelopment of Žižkov at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s

The thesis deals with the refection of the redevelopment of Prague quarter Žižkov at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s in contemporary narratives of the inhabitants of that period. The research uses oral history methods and focuses on subjective perceptions of the accompanying phenomena of the redevelopment, such as the original quality of housing, mental images of the neighbourhood and the displacement of residents. Both from the perspective of those who moved within the neighbourhood and those who had to leave Žižkov. Along with the demolition itself and the transformation of interpersonal relations, the thesis also follows the phenomenon of the construction of housing estates, where many residents from the demolished houses moved. In the synthesizing part, the thesis explores the dimensions of time, gender, nostalgia, and memory of place.
Leisure Time of Roma Children and Youth at Prague 3

PhDr. Monika Nová, Ph.D. MPH The theoretical part of this bachelor thesis describes leisure time - the history of leisure time, functions and leisure time of children and youth. It also describes the Roma community, the history of Roma in the Czech Republic and the topic of integration, segregation, discrimination and social exclusion of Romani people. It also focuses on Roma children and youth and their leisure time. The theoretical part concludes with a list of institutions working with Roma children and youth in Prague 3. In the practical part, a quantitative method was used to collect data through a questionnaire survey. The aim of the bachelor thesis was to find out how Roma children and youth in Prague 3 spend their leisure time.

This diploma thesis deals with urban greenery, specifically with the publicly accessible Parukářka park in Prague's Žižkov district. Based on a research of available literature and other sources, it first introduces and defines the key concepts and theoretical background that deal with greenery and its functions, as well as public space and areas of interest, all of which allows a closer look into the issue. The thesis also provides a brief overview of the historical development of the area which has undergone a number of changes over the decades that have influenced its current form. The last section of the theoretical part of the thesis focuses on development projects to be realized in the vicinity of the park and marginally it also deals with strategic materials. The aim of this thesis is an attempt at a comprehensive description of the Parukářka phenomenon and an exploration of this public space as an actual place, as well as a construct of meanings and values attributed to it by its users/actors. The empirical part of the thesis seeks to answer the research question of the significance of this relatively preserved natural area in urban space, both in general from different points of view and from the perspectives of its contemporary users/actors. Balcony access house in the architectural and urban development of the city of Žižkov

v anglickém jazyce Abstract This thesis focuses on the type of balcony access house in the context of urban development of Žižkov. First, the development of mass housing in general is outlined, followed by the developement of the balcony access house itself, in which was considered also historical perspective of material and social environment of the Žižkov area. The core of the thesis is the analysis of the Žižkov balcony access house with aim to determine its specific features and to show how it get along with the increasing requirements for quality of living, how it has been adapted, as well as how the balcony access house had to retreat. The final chapter establish the impact of the balcony house to the genius loci of Žižkov and demonstrate its understanding on the arts of contemporary architecture. Interurban telegraph and telephone switchboard building in Prague's part Žižkov and representation of young Czechoslovak Republic by architecture The subject matter of the bachelor thesis is the building of telegraph and telephone exchange (PBX) Žižkov (located around the streets Fibichova, Křížkovského, Kubelíkova), built based on the project of architect Bohumír Kozák in 1922-1925. Focus of the thesis will be on the analysis of the style of the building, on its exterior in the National architectural style can be seen references to the Italian Renaissance. The building will be set into context of Bohumír Kozák's work. Special attention will be given to the comparation of the building with an PBX builidng bulit in Poděbrady in 1922-1924.It will also deal with the issue of monument protection and the placement of the building into the Žižkov block building and its place in the image of the city.The study will end up with options for future rebuilding and restoring.

Crime Prevention Strategy and Fear of Crime on Prague's Žižkov

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje strategii prevence kriminality prostřednictvím designu prostředí mezi její aplikací v konkrétním prostředí a vnímanými obavami ze zločinu. CPTED se pokouší ní spojené obavy ze zločinu pomocí odifikací vystavěného prostředí, kterými snižuje v dané lokalitě příležitosti pro spáchání zločinu. Cílem výzkumu je posoudit míru aplikace zásad CPTED ve čtyřech vybraných žižkovských lokalitách a zjistit, zda souvisí úrovní obav ze zločinu návštěvníků těchto míst. Obavy ze zločinu byly zjišťovány na základě dotazníkového šetření prováděného ve zkoumaných lokalitách Hodnocení, do jaké míry jsou lokalitách využívány zásady CPTED, proběhlo pomocí terénního výzkumu. Výsledky potvrdily, že lokality s aplikovanými zásadami strategie CPTED jsou návštěvníky hodnoceny jako bezpečnější.
